Withings, the French startup behind the Activité and Activité Pop smartwatches, is releasing its third wearable: the Activité Steel.
At a glance, the Activité Steel is very similar to its predecessors. The body is made of premium stainless steel like the Activité, with the silicone strap looking similar to the one used on the Activité Pop. However, there is a noticeable difference between the index markers and the hands on this model.
The Activité Steel is available in one color - black – and tracks the wearer’s steps and sleep cycles. The fitness tracker is water-resistant up to 50 meters (like many of its competitors), but goes a step further by automatically detecting when one is swimming so as to track activity. The individual’s data is stored in the Withings Health Mate app, which is available on iOS and Android. A small hand located on the face of the watch measures daily progress, making it convenient to view on-the-go.
Perfect for the low-maintenance but fashion-forward consumer, the smartwatch does not need to be charged regularly. Instead, Withings recommends changing the battery every 8 months. Furthermore, it automatically syncs to your phone when changing time zones, so that’s one less thing to worry about while traveling.
The Activité Steel retails for $169.95, and can be ordered directly on Withings.com.
