Garmin has announced its new Vivosmart HR fitness tracker and introduced its first smart scale. Along with typical smartwatch functions (incoming notifications for calls, texts and emails and music playback controls), the tracker offers a heart-rate sensor with continuous monitoring. The company’s smart scale, appropriately named the Index Smart Scale, comes with it’s own health tracking features.
The fitness tracker monitors step count, sleep patterns, calories burned and distance travelled. Even with the listed features and 24/7 heart rate monitoring, the Vivosmart has an impressive battery life that can last up to 5 days without recharge. Additionally, the water-resistant band can be synced with Android and iOS apps. The band is available in three-color options, including blue, black and purple.
The Index Smart Scale measures the user’s weight and calculates body fat percentage, body mass index, water percentage and muscle and bone mass. The scale can monitor stats for up to 16 individuals. The data can then be recorded and synced with iOS and Android via WiFi. The device is available in either black or white.
Both devices are retailed at $150 and are available in November.
