Good news for owners of a smartwatch running the Android Wear OS – Google expanded the range of available watch faces recently, adding 17 more collections to the mix.
The new faces, which debuted on June 22, 2015, include licensed character options such as Hello Kitty, designers such as Kevin Tong, and brands such as Italian shoe retailer Geox.
One fashion designer featured in the newly-released collections is Cynthia Rowley. The Cynthia Rowley collection of faces features a selection of patterns described as “stunning,” as they comprise delicate, subtle animations that vary as the day wears on. The featured image includes a spray of blossoms, and others are available through the free Cynthia Rowley app in the Google Play store.
Bang & Olufsen, a retailer of high-end music systems, televisions, and other multimedia products, takes a more naturalistic approach with its smartwatch app. While the design is more minimalist and stark, this free app allows the wearer to display sunrises and sunsets directly on the watch face. It’s a clever use of the display feature of the smartwatch, and an absolute must for the early bird smartwatch wearer.
A hoard of other designers, brands, and others are represented in the Google Play app store. In fact, the Android Wear marketplace now features over 1,500 face collections for smartwatches from which to choose. The customizations are endless.
